Willy Tjungurrayi
Country: Patjantja, south-west of Lake McKay
DOB: c1930
Willy's painting represents the area of Kaakuratintja (Lake McDonald), and the water soakage. You can see the water holes or clay pans where travellers have camped. When the rains come, it hits the sand pitting small holes in the soil and blowing the sand into various shaped dunes. In mythological times, a large group of Tingari Men, young and old, travelled to these sites from the west. This is part of the Tingari story.
